xPasser Give-N-Go: Point and Snipe

We’ve shown you that, with the xPasser Give-N-Go, you have a plethora of drills to choose from in your next practice or tryout. Today, we show you the point and snipe, which utilizes a player’s skating ability, as well as his or her shooting and passing attributes.

Arguably the best feature of the xPasser Give-N-Go is it’s ability to return a pass to a player in the same manner it was received. If a player flips a sloppy pass to the Give-N-Go, it returns wobbly and off target. If it’s crisp and clean, it returns right back on the blade with precision. This is a vital feature when completing the following drill.

For this drill, the xPasser Give-N-Goes should be set up at the top of the offensive zone, much like where you would see point men set up at entry of a power play. Players line up in two lines behind the net, one on the left and the other on the right. One at a time, a skater delivers a pass to the xPasser, then turns to head to the net. All in the same motion, he or she receives the pass back and takes a shot on goal.

Imagine the point and snipe in a real game situation. The puck carrier exits a board battle down low, finds his open point man then B-lines to the net in hopes of receiving a pass back. It’s a designed play that the highest leagues still use to this day.
