Introducing Our New Hockey Training Facility

When I retired from playing in the NHL in 2015, I knew that my connection to the sport was far from over. This is an example of that: my hockey performance program, xHockey Performance

Run out of the highly reputable sports performance center, Athletic Edge in Scotch Plains, NJ, xHockey Performance is a unique combination of people, programming, and off-ice training equipment.  While I will be designing the skills development component for off-season, pre-season and in-season work, I will have two hockey fitness and biomechanics experts at my side.  Mike Vasalani has been the strength coach for the NJ Devils and the Washington Capitals for two decades. Having won three Stanley Cups, he is the winningest strength and conditioning expert in the sport’s history.  Ben Shear, owner, and Director of Performance of Athletic Edge has an international reputation in sports performance and has had athletes compete at the highest level in most professional sports. We will unite hockey-specific strength and conditioning with the most effective hockey skills and drills.  Together, the three of us are focused on maximizing the potential of off-ice training in a way that substantially elevates on-ice play.

Our training is broken out to accommodate one-on-one, semi-private, small-group and whole team requirements. Complete with synthetic ice, the facility is outfitted with incredible training aids that will build skill levels, confidence and potential.  More information can be seen here.  If you know of hockey players who would be interested in this unique offering, please pass along our information.  We are already providing one-on-one and semi-private instruction to some of the area’s most competitive players.  An 8-week age-specific off-season program begins on May 1st.  Spots are limited, so inquire soon if interested.  Registration information can be found here.

If you have any questions or would like to come by the facility for a tour, please let me know.  Once here, you will see how a state-of-the-art training facility has become home to a complete hockey performance program in the country.  You can also go to or call 903.322.2003 for more info.

Very excited for this part of my hockey career,
